The joint team of officials from India and Myanmar who were on their way to survey the land around border pillar number 82 near Manipur along the border of the two countries was hit by adverse weather with bad road conditions and was stuck for some time before they could reach the location.
As far as the survey is concerned, according to initial reports, Government of India officials have found no discrepancies. Earlier the Ministry of External Affairs had decided to send this joint survey team to settle the land dispute between India and Myanmar in Manipur.
Myamnar Army had earlier objected to road construction work near border pillar 82. The road construction work was being carried out under the central government scheme of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana for connecting Molphei village and Nongkam Satang.
The survey team is being led by DC of Tamu, Myanmar, along with Indian Army officials, state government officials and residents of Nongkam Satang.
The said Border Pillar in dispute is in Nongkam Satang Village, 20 km away from the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh. It cannot be accessed through a vehicle and one has to walk nearly 12 Km to reach the place from Kwatha Khunou road, which is the Meitei Village along the Indo-Myanmar Border.
