In a tragic incident of man-elephant conflict, a 50-year-old woman Rupa Chetia was trampled to death by a wild elephant that strayed into Jagun Ahom Pothar Village of Margherita in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district.

As per reports, the strayed elephant came to the village from the nearby Kotha Reserve Forest. With the rise of man-elephant conflict across Assam, in the recent times, this incident has created havoc in the area.

Meanwhile, 9 other families of the village had a narrow escape as the jumbo went on a rampage destroying houses in the village.
