5 members of NTPRADAO arrested by Dimapur police

The Dimapur Police have arrested five office bearers of Nagaland Transparency, Public Rights Advocacy & Direct Action Organization (NTPRADAO) on charges of criminal intimidation, conspiracy to commit crime against the Nagaland legislators and threatening to destroy government properties with intent to provoke breach of peace.

The crackdown on the members of the NTPRADAO came weeks after the organization on June 29 issued a threat to storm and attack the official residences of each of the 60 legislators and burn them down to ashes, if the State Assembly passes a bill in support of Uniform Civil Code.

According to sources, Police said the organisation had threatened to storm and burn down the official quarters of all 60 legislators with its three thousand plus members from all over 16 districts of Nagaland.

The arrested persons have been identified as President Michael Tungoe; general secretary-Public Policy Ikato Zhimomi; general secretary Albert Kire; state executive member Temjen Mar Ao and chief advisor Hayithung T. Lotha.

A case has been registered at East Police Station in Dimapur and further investigation has been launched to bring to light the mala fide intention and book the persons involved in the crime.
