Three members of the Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM) have been arrested in Meghalaya for allegedly threatening tourists who were staying at a guest house in Shillong.
The HANM members also threatened the owner of the guest house with dire consequences which terrified and worried both the guest house owner and the tourists, said police.
As per reports, on April 3, 2023, some HANM members went to a guest house in Mawdiangdiang and threatened some tourists who came to Meghalaya for a two-day visit to see some religious sites as well as for sightseeing, said Sylvester Nongtnger,East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP).
Yesterday, April 6, Police has registered a case at Rynjah police station under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in this regard and also has warned anyone against taking the law into their hands by disrupting the visit of tourists to the state.
