Some reports claimed that Ibrahim has been poisoned
Notorious underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim has reportedly been hospitalised in Pakistan’s Karachi following a serious medical condition.
Some reports claimed that Ibrahim has been poisoned.
Dawood Ibrahim was reportedly hospitalised two days ago, however, there has been no confirmation from Pakistan authorities about the matter. Reports further said that Dawood Ibrahim is the only patient on the floor of the hospital in which he has been admitted. Only senior authorities of the hospital and the underworld don’s close family members have the access to the floor, reported Firstpost.
Reports, quoting sources, are also stating that Dawood has been kept under tight security at the hospital, reported Times of India.
The Mumbai Police were trying to gain more information on the hospitalisation of the underworld don from his relatives Alishah Parkar and Sajid Wagle, reported India today.
Indian authorities have often said they believe Dawood Ibrahim lives in Karachi’s upmarket Clifton area. But, Pakistan, for decades, has been refuting of sheltering the wanted underworld don and denying his presence in their country, reported Firstpost.
In January this year, Ibrahim ‘s nephew Alishah Parkar informed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that Dawood Ibrahim had remarried in Pakistan and was now residing in Karachi with his family.
The 65-year-old fugitive is one of India’s most wanted criminals. He is the mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai bombings that claimed over 250 lives and injured thousands.
The 10th edition of the Global Terrorism Index (GIT) claims that Dawood Ibrahim and his D-company continue to be in charge of a number of illegal activities in Mumbai, such as the trafficking of weapons, drugs, and counterfeit goods. The report also cited that the criminal outfit has strong links with global terrorist groups, including al-Qaida, reported Firstpost.
In 2003, the governments of India and the United States had declared Dawood Ibrahum a ‘global terrorist’.
