14 Taxi Associations Of Meghalaya Say No Ban On Tourist Vehicles Entering the State

The Associations have vowed to fight against such elements and assured that Meghalaya is as safe and secure as it was earlier for tourists from across the country.
The meeting between the Assam Tourist Taxi Association and the Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association at Nongpoh in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi district today, concluded with both sides unanimously deciding to clear any misconception and to stop any misinformation regarding ban on tourist vehicles entering Meghalaya.
In the meeting from both the tourist taxi associations decided that both private and commercial vehicles can now freely travel to popular tourist destinations such as Shillong, Dawki, Cherrapunjee and other parts of Meghalaya.
Both associations also affirmed that they were not involved in any incidents of stopping tourist vehicles and added that some unscrupulous outside elements are trying to take advantage of the situation by spreading misinformation and rumours.
The Associations have vowed to fight against such elements and assured that Meghalaya is as safe and secure as it was earlier for tourists from across the country.
They stated that tourists need not have any fear while visiting Meghalaya and likewise people from state can travel anywhere in Assam.
Both Associations have also decided to act against illegal Taxi operators.
Notably, the meeting came amidst the recent incident of a particular pressure group in Meghalaya, stopping tourist vehicles from Assam from heading to Dawki and Cherrapunjee.
Around 14 Taxi associations under the Meghalaya Tourist taxi association and several Assam Taxi Associations took part in the crucial meeting.
