The committee was tasked with investigating allegations of administrative lapses and mismanagement at NEHU.
The situation at NEHU has escalated due to the prolonged absence of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Prabha Shankar Shukla.
VC had earlier requested the ministry to ensure adequate security to facilitate his return to the campus, initially planned for December 2.
The organisation also pointed that Shukla blantatly disregarded the rich traditions and customs of the Hynñiewtrep people.
The inquiry was initiated following widespread demands from the NEHU community, including students and faculty, to remove Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla
The association further stated that Prof. Shukla’s actions were tarnishing the reputation of NEHUTA, other stakeholders.
The protesting students demanded the authorities to immediately address their concerns to ensure that their academic progress is not further hindered.
We hope that everything settles down and that students' lives and careers are not affected, CM said.
VC Shukla has gone on leave after the students’s protests intensified and the Meghalaya government stepped in.
The committee has been tasked with submitting its report within 15 days, providing necessary recommendations for corrective action.
