Jubarajnagar is an assembly constituency in Tripura. In 2022, BJP candidate Maina Debnath won the seat by defeating CPIM's Sailendra Chandra Nath
Jubarajnagar Legislative Assembly constituency is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Tripura which is part of the North Tripura district. Jubarajnagar village is located in the Panisagar subdivision of North Tripura. Dharmanagar is the nearest town to Jubarajnagar for all major economic activities, which is approximately 6km away. The village is situated 8km away from sub-district headquarters Panisagar (tehsildar office) and 45km away from district headquarter Kailasahar. The total geographical area of the village is 627 hectares. The estimated population of Jubarajnagar in 2023 is 5,399.
BJP candidate Malina Debnath is the sitting MLA of the constituency. She won the seat for the party in the by-election in 2022 with 18,769 votes by defeating Sailendra Chandra Nath of the Communist Party Of India (Marxist) with a margin of 4572 votes.
The by-polls in the seat were necessitated after the death of CPI-M legislator Ramendra Chandra Debnath. Debnath served as assembly speaker several times and was six times elected from the Jubarajnagar constituency. He passed away on February 2 in Kolkata due to kidney failure.
The battle will once again be between Malina Debnath and Sailendra Chandra Nath.
