In 2018, the constituency had a total of 39,471 electors. The total population in 2023 is estimated to be 44,324.
In 2018, this constituency was won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2018, Sambhu Lal Chakma of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat by defeating Nirajoy Tripura of the Communist Party Of India (Marxist) with a margin of 3755 votes.
