Meghalaya NPP president and Rajya Sabha MP, WR Kharlukhi is quite confident that his party will achieve the target. This is a signficant statement by the NPP leader ahead of the ensuing elections.
When asked about the mood of the people and the ongoing preparations of the NPP, Kharlukhi said,”Well the mood is very optimistic and I hope that what we are targetting we will be achieving that.”
When sought about his reactions on partners of the MDA now targetting the NPP, WR Kharlukhi said that his party is ready to face any consequence. He said,”Because election time is near so we are made scapegoat. But even then what I feel in politics is that we are the leading party and as responsible leaders we will face whatever consequences that come.”
Responding to a query on BJP’s aggressive campaign, Kharlukhi said,”Well every party is very aggressive. We are also aggresive because every party is aiming at majority.”
Kharlukhi said that the NPP is primarily focusing on the 3 primary agendas to convince the voters which include-implementation of ILP, inter-state border issue with Assam & inclusiong of Khasi, Garo language in the 8th Schedule.
Kharlukhi stated,”We have taken so many issues like for example-ILP has been a demand for more than 40 years right from the time I was a student leader. At least My party who led the government passed the resolution (in State Assembly). Even, the demand for inclusion for Khasi Garo language in the 8th schedule and we passed a resolution in the assembly showing that we are serious, in the border issue we are serious because we know how much our people suffer in the border.”
