Mukul Sangma who filed his nomination for the Tikrikilla constituency, at first pointed out that the inter-state border issue with Assam is his party's primary bone of contention.
Former Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today lambasted the Conrad Sangma government over the inter-state border issue in the runup to the assembly elections in the state.
Mukul Sangma who filed his nomination for the Tikrikilla constituency, at first pointed out that the inter-state border issue with Assam is his party’s primary bone of contention.
Sangma launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said,”We are talking about Number 1 in respect to the unacceptable, anti-people decision pertaining to the inter-state border issue with Assam; where the incumbent government just tried to condone that decision in favour of Assam, which was considered as completely a response to a diktat given by our neighbouring state.”
Escalating his attack further, Mukul Sangma said,”So that is why we (TMC) are saying that if the people of the state of Meghalaya are not accepting, why is the Chief Minister who is supposed to reflect the intent and desire of the people is actually confirming and going down to the diktats of the forces of the counterpart government.”
The former Meghalaya Chief Minister added, “That’s why these are issues which are not acceptable to the people, and is not acceptable to us.”
Not only this, Mukul Sangma also slammed the MDA government over the Gaming Act and said,”Another one, you know the incumbent govt wanted to make Meghalaya a den of gambling. It is against our ethos, against our way of life, against our thought and expression and faith and worship.”
When asked about the people’s response ahead of the poll battle, Sangma said, “majority of the people have said, we want change, we want change.”
