Songsak is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya state in India. It is part of East Garo Hills district and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. It falls under Tura Lok Sabha constituency.
In 2018 the constituency had 26,687 electors. In 2023 the population of Songsak is 70,101.
In 2018, Dr. Mukul Sangma of the Indian National Congress and Former Chief Minister of Meghalaya won the seat by defeating Nihim D Shira of the National People’s Party with a margin of 1830 votes.
Mukul Sangma joined the All India Trinamool Congress in November 2021 and is currently the President of Meghalaya Trinamool Congress.
Mukul Sangma is contesting the 2023 assembly elections from the Songsak constituency against rivals Nihim D Shira (NPP), Champion R. Sangma (Congress) and Thomas Marak (BJP).
