Shella is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya state in India. It is part of East Khasi Hills district and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. It falls under Shillong Lok Sabha constituency.
In 2018 the constituency had 29,040 electors.
In 2018, United Democratic Party candidate Donkupar Roy won the seat by defeating People’s Democratic Front Leston Wanswett with a margin of 370 votes.
In 2019, Balajied Kupar Synrem of the United Democratic Party won the seat by defeating Grace Mary Kharpuri an Independent with a margin of 6221 votes. Balajied Kupar Synrem is again contesting the 2023 assembly elections as a UDP candidate from Shella constituency.
The Shella assembly seat fell vacant following the death of sitting MLA and former Chief minister and later speaker, Donkupar Roy on July 28, 2019.
