Mawlai Legislative Assembly constituency is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya. Mawlai village is located in Mylliem Tehsil of East Khasi Hills and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. The estimated population of Mawlai in 2023 is 414.
Former Congress MLA and now United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate Process T. Sawkmie is the sitting MLA of the constituency. He was elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in 2018, 2003 and 1998.
He won the seat for Congress in 2018 with 9,253 votes by defeating independent candidate Teiborlang Pathaw with a margin of 1574 votes.
