Ampati Legislative Assembly constituency is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya. It is part of South West Garo Hills district and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. Ampati is a Village in Resubelpara Block, East Garo Hills. People living in Ampati depend on multiple skills. Ampati population in 2022/2023 is between 78 and 85 and total households residing are 15.
Former Meghalaya Chief Minister and state Congress leader Dr Mukul Sangma. Dr Mukul Sangma is the sitting MLA of the constituency. He has been occupying the Ampati seat since 1998.
He has been elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, 2018 as a representative Congress. In the 2018 Assembly elections, Sangma won the seat defeating BJP candidate Bakul ch. Hajong with a margin of 8104 votes.
