It falls under Shillong Lok Sabha constituency. Amlarem is a Town and Block in Jaintia Hills. The estimated population of Amlarem in 2023 is 57,874.
Meghalaya Home Minister and United Democratic Party leader Lakhmen Rymbui is the sitting MLA of the constituency. Minister Rymbui won the seat for the party in the 2018 Assembly elections with 14,766 votes by defeating then incumbent MLA, National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Stephanson Mukhim with a margin of 2631 votes.
