Mukul Sangma, the former Chief Minister and current TMC leader is contesting the upcoming Assembly polls from two constituencies – Songsak and Tikrikilla. In the 2018 elections, Sangma won from both the Ampati and Songsak constituencies as a Congress candidate. He joined the All India Trinamool Congress pr TMC in 2021. This year, he is contesting from two constituencies once again: Songsak, where he is the incumbent MLA and Tikrikilla. In Songsak, Sangma faces competition from NPP’s Nihim D Shira, INC’s Champion R Sangma and BJP’s Thomas N Marak. In Tikrikilla, he will be competing against NPP’s MLA Jimmy D Sangma, Congress’ Dr Kapin Ch Boro, BJP’s Rahinath Barchung Rabha, and UDP’s Julius T Sangma.
