Conrad Sangma incumbent Chief Minister of Meghalaya and the president of the National People’s Party (NPP) is contesting from the South Tura constituency. He is the sitting MLA of South Tura.

The former Lok Sabha MP (2016-18) from Tura, Conrad Sangma had served as the youngest Finance Minister of Meghalaya in 2008. A Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania and Imperial College, London product, Sangma, son of former Lok Sabha Speaker and veteran Meghalaya politician PA Sangma, started his political career in the late 1990s as campaign manager for his father who was with the NCP then.

Conrad Sangma’s opponents are Brenzield Ch Marak of the Indian National Congress (Cong/INC), Bernard N Marak of BJP, John Leslee K Sangma of the United Democratic Party (UDP), and Richard M Marak of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). The South Tura constituency is considered to be a NPP stronghold.
