The Uttarakhand government is set to honour Sushil Mann, who saved Rishabh Pant’s life, on January 26. Pant is currently being treated at Max Hospital in Dehradun.
Sushil Mann, who saved Rishabh Pant’s life, will be honoured by the Uttarakhand government on Republic Day, which will be celebrated across the country on January 26, an India Today report said.
Bus driver Mann, along with his bus conductor Paramjeet, saved Pant, who suffered a horrifying car accident on Friday, December 30. Pant was lying inside his car with bruises all over his body when he was being rescued.
The accident took place on the Delhi-Dehradun highway and, as per the bus driver, the car had taken three to four turns after crashing into the divider.
Pant is currently being treated at the Max Hospital in Dehradun and is said to be stable. There is also a chance that he will be airlifted to the national capital in Delhi for further treatment.
Delhi and District Cricket Association Director, Shyam Sharma, in the meantime, said that Pant was trying to avoid a pothole when the accident happened.
S.K. Singh, Superintendent of Police, Haridwar (Rural), said that Pant “fell asleep at the wheel a kilometre ahead of Narsan towards Roorkee.”
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently issued a statement, updating on Pant’s health and the injury he sustained.
“Pant has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back,” the BCCI wrote on Twitter.
The BCCI also thanked Narendra Modi, the Honourable Prime Minister of India, for reaching out to Pant’s family after the incident.
As per an AIIMS report, Pant needs three to six months to get back to full fitness. He was recently left out of India’s ODI and T20I teams for the series against Sri Lanka.
