Assam Cracks Down Hard: 15, Including a Woman, Arrested for Pro-Pakistan Posts After Pahalgam Attack

The Assam government has intensified its crackdown on Pakistan supporters across the state following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.

The Assam government has intensified its crackdown on Pakistan supporters across the state following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. So far, police have arrested a total of 15 people for posting pro-Pakistan and anti-national comments on social media. Those arrested include politicians, students, leaders and a woman.

On Saturday, police made fresh arrests in Hailakandi and Nagaon districts. In Hailakandi, police arrested Bulbul Alam Majumdar for making pro-Pakistan comments. In Nagaon district, police arrested Masood Azhar for similar posts.

Police also arrested Congress leader Bimal Mahato from Orang for making pro-Pakistan remarks related to the Pahalgam attack. Officers picked him up from Orang soon after his objectionable comments surfaced on social media.

Meanwhile, amid the wave of arrests, police also arrested a woman in Assam’s Golaghat district. The woman, identified as Dadhichi Dimple alias Dimple Baruah, was detained by the Crime Branch from Guwahati for making controversial and anti-national comments on the Pahalgam terror attack. Later, authorities handed her over to Golaghat Police, who placed her under arrest.

Additionally, police arrested two more individuals yesterday from Cachar district. They have been identified as Baktar Hussain Barbhuiyan and Mohammad Imran Hussain Borbhuyan.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has made it clear that authorities will slap the National Security Act (NSA) on anyone who supports the Pahalgam terror attack or Pakistan. The Chief Minister declared that the crackdown would continue without any break, and the government would take the strictest action possible against anti-national activities.
