At the Lungleng Show in Nagaland, a girl asked a hilarious question to Congress MP Sashi Tharoor. His response is now a viral video

A video of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has been doing the rounds of the internet where he was asked a hilarious question by a fan girl. Tharoor’s epic answer to her question has grabbed the internet’s attention and how. The incident took place at a talk show called the Lungleng Show, which the politician attended during his visit to Nagaland. The 66-year-old politician mentioned that he received the video on WhatsApp.

The unidentified woman stood up to ask a question to Shashi Tharoor at the event. “So, how can someone be so astonishingly good-looking and charismatic and even more implausibly brilliant and intelligent at the same time?” she asked.

Mr Tharoor smiled and told her to ‘choose your parents wisely’. “You are very sweet, very kind and generous, but all I can say there are things that you can’t help. And there are things that you can change yourself to do. So, the way you look and all of that, honestly, all I can say is choose your parents wisely. It’s all in the genes,” was his epic response to the girl.

The Congress MP also talked about his reading habit which began when he was a child. “But everything else you should work at it. I must say that reading, as I explained, became a habit in childhood. I have kept it up and therefore, I read a lot and I think I know a lot because I have retained a lot of whatever I have read,” he added.

“A 2-minute sidelight from my recent visit to Nagaland seems to be going around on @WhatsApp: here it is!” the video caption reads.

The video triggered numerous reactions. “The secret of every intellectual is they read a lot. This generation is too lazy to sit quietly with a book and enjoy learning. I’m in my mid-20s and fortunately, I have developed a habit of reading since college… Reading a great book is like having conversations with the finest men of the century!” a user wrote.

“I am awestruck to listen to such a beautiful reply: Indeed! Gene matters. He comes from an intellectual family but have worked very hard to reach here,” another user wrote.
