The Mumbai resident lodged a complaint with Bandra Police. The restaurant manager and the cooks have arrested

It was Sunday night. Anurag Singh a bank executive in Mumbai ordered for a chicken dish from an upmarket restaurant hoping to have a sumptuous dinner. But to his utter shock and dismay, just when he bit into the piece of meat, what he found was that it was not chicken but rat meat!

When Singh started having the gravy he did not find anything amiss. But it is when he took a bite of the meat, he realised that something was not right. He figured that it was not chicken meat but something else as it felt and tasted like something totally different.

He was horrified when he found a baby rat covered in the gravy. He immediately complained to the hotel manager.

Singh then approached the police who registered a case against the hotel’s chef, manager and the chicken supplier. A case was registered against the manager and chef of the restaurant.

Bandra police officials confirmed the arrest of the restaurant manager Vivian Sequeira and two cooks who were booked under sections 272 (adulteration of food meant to be sold) and 336 (rash or negligent behaviour that endangers a person’s life) under the Indian Penal Code.

In a similar incident last month, a Twitter user had claimed that he found a dead rat in a dish served at a famous restaurant in Punjab’s Ludhiana. A video showing a dead rat covered in gravy went viral on social media. However, the restaurant denied the video accusing the customer of defaming the establishment.
