The decision regarding listing anchors and shows was made at the first meeting of the INDIA coordination committee held yesterday

The Opposition INDIA bloc has decided to boycott a number of television anchors and shows.

Making the announcement, the party said that the leaders will come up with a list of anchors whose debates and shows they would boycott.

The Coordination Committee’s media subgroup will come up with names for anchors and shows, it said in a statement today.

The decision regarding listing anchors and shows was made at the first meeting of the INDIA coordination committee held yestertday at the residence of Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar.

The Congress has often charged some media outlets of giving Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra inadequate publicity.

The people are supporting the Yatra and so is the social media. However, according to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, “mainstream media continues to boycott it.”

According to reports, a number of leaders have made unofficial threats of vengeance.

“It is my allegation that editors have boycotted the yatra. Lakhs are joining the campaign. Will you not show such a huge campaign?” said Rajasthan Chief Minister.

In May 2019, the Congress had also boycotted television shows for a month.

Taking to X, senior party leader Randeep Surjewala wrote, “The Congress has decided to not send spokespersons on television debates for a month. All media channels/editors are requested to not place Congress representatives on their shows.”

In preparation for the general elections next year, the Coordination Committee also voted to start the seat-sharing procedure.
