Airline operator Go First has been fined Rs 10 lakh after one of its flights took off for Delhi from Bangalore without 55 passengers on January 9
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined airline operator Go First Rs 10 lakh after one of its flights took off for Delhi earlier this month, leaving over 50 passengers behind at Bangalore airport.
On January 9, as many as 55 passengers were left fuming after a Go First flight took off for Delhi with their luggage, leaving them behind at Bengaluru airport. According to the passengers, several of whom had taken to social media, the Go First flight G8116 from Bengaluru to Delhi allegedly took off without 55 passengers, who had their boarding passes and had checked-in their luggage but were allegedly left stranded on the tarmac, reported by India Today.
Following the incident, the DGCA issued a showcause notice to the accountable manager of Go First asking as to why enforcement action should not be taken against the airline for dereliction of their regulatory obligations.
The airline operator submitted their reply to the showcause notice on Wednesday, January 25.
The reply submitted by Go First revealed that there was improper communication and coordination between the terminal coordinator (TC), the commercial staff and the crew regarding boarding of passengers onto the aircraft.
The airline failed to ensure adequate arrangements for ground handling, preparation of load and trim sheet, flight dispatch and passenger/cargo handling.
Therefore, the regulatory body of civil aviation imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on the airline for violation of CAR Section 3, Series C, Part II and Air Transport Circular II, 2019.
