The security forces have launched a massive hunt to track down the missing soldier.

A 25-year-old army soldier, who was on leave, is reported missing from Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday. This has trigged concern among the family members that he might have been kidnapped by militants.

The soldier, identified as Javid Ahmad Wani, is a resident of Asthal area of Kulgam district.

Wani who was posted in Ladakh region, had come home on leave for Eid ul Azha.

The report said that he left his home in his car on Saturday evening at around 7:30 pm to buy food items as he was to leave for Ladakh on Sunday to join his duties but never returned and his car was found abandoned some distance away from home.

Following the incident, Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case and arrested some suspects.

The soldier’s father Mohammad Ayub Wani said, “My son was posted in Ladakh. He had come home just after Eid and was supposed to join back on duty tomorrow. He had stepped out last evening to buy some stuff from the market. He was stopped by some people and kidnapped. I appeal to them, please release my son,” a media report quoting the father said.
