In a tragic incident, five people died in a pandal fire that broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi on Sunday, officials said on Monday.

As per reports, three boys (all under the age of 12) and two women are among the five people who died.

The deceased have been identified as Ankush Soni (12), Naveen Kumar (10), Harshvardhan (8), Jaya Devi (47), and Aarati Devi (48).

The incident occurred at a Durga Puja pandal in Aurai, Bhadohi district.

According to District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi, the fire spread around 9 p.m. during the Aarti session to mark the seventh day of Navratri festivities, or Saptami, when a halogen light at the pandal overheated, causing an electric wire to catch fire.
