Zuckerberg called the newly launched app a ‘friendly’ rival to Twitter, owned by Elon Musk

Meta’s newly-launched app ‘Threads’ saw massive success on its first day of launch.

Ten million users signed up for threads within the first seven hours of its launch, the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on Thursday, the BBC reported.

Zuckerberg called the newly launched app a ‘friendly’ rival to Twitter, owned by Elon Musk.
As per experts, threads could attract Twitter users who are unhappy with recent changes to the platform, BCC reported.

Threads allows users to post up to 500 characters and has many features similar to Twitter.

Earlier, Mr. Zuckerberg said keeping the platform “friendly… will ultimately be the key to its success”.
The app went live on Apple and Android app stores in 100 countries on Thursday.

Threads is the biggest challenger yet to Elon Musk-owned Twitter, which has seen a series of potential competitors emerge but has not yet replaced one of the world’s biggest social media platforms despite its struggles.

Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg, taking a shot at Elon Musk, posted the Spiderman pointing Spiderman meme, referring to the similarities between Twitter and threads.

“It’ll take some time, but I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion + people on it. Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t nailed it. Hopefully we will,” Mark Zuckerberg wrote on threads.
