ACP Pradyuman has stood as a symbol of justice, integrity, and calm authority in Indian television's crime fiction landscape

For decades, “Darwaza tod do, Daya!” and “Kuch toh gadbad hai” were not just iconic lines, they were a part of our growing-up years, etched into the collective memory of every CID fan. But now, the voice behind those unforgettable dialogues is falling silent. Something is changing in the world of CID. A shift that fans didn’t see coming.

Shivaji Satam who immortalised the role of ACP Pradyuman in Sony TV’s iconic show CID is stepping away from the role that defined Indian crime TV. Yes, your favourite ACP Pradyuman is saying goodbye.

As per a report by India Today, the much-loved character will meet a tragic end in an upcoming episode sacrificing his life in a bomb blast.

For over two decades, ACP Pradyuman has stood as a symbol of justice, integrity, and calm authority in Indian television’s crime fiction landscape. Shivaji Satam’s powerful and consistent portrayal earned him immense love across generations. Now, this legacy may be coming to a close.

According to the report, the upcoming storyline features a bomb plot orchestrated by Barbossa a returning villain played by Tigmanshu Dhulia, previously seen as the leader of the Eye Gang.

Barbossa’s return brings a deadly plan to wipe out the CID team. While other members survive the attack, ACP Pradyuman reportedly dies in the blast, giving his life for his team.

The team recently shot this emotional and action-packed episode, which is expected to air soon, reported India Today.

The report also hints that this might not be a permanent goodbye, as CID has a history of reviving major characters.

The final decision on ACP Pradyuman’s return could depend on fan reactions after the episode airs. As of now, however, there are no official plans to bring him back.

Reflecting on his long journey with CID, Satam once said, “These characters are absolutely human, they don’t fly or jump, but they’re good at their jobs. That’s what makes them relatable.”

CID was relaunched on Sony TV this year and is also streaming on Netflix. The character’s legacy even lives on in an animated avatar CID Squad: Naye Yug Ka Naya CID.

Whether this truly marks the end of ACP Pradyuman or just another twist in the long-running saga, one thing is certain fans will never forget the man behind the iconic “Daya, darwaza tod do.”
