Shah Rukh Khan plays a RAW agent in the much-awaited film
Shah Rukh Khan is making a comeback to the big screen after four years with the much-awaited action film Pathaan, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles. SRK was last seen in the 2018 film Zero opposite Anushka Sharma.
Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, is the fourth installment in the YRF Spy Universe, after Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and War (2019). The story of Pathaan revolves around an exiled RAW agent named Pathaan, played by SRK, who is assigned the task to fight a terror organization named Outfit X that is planning attacks on India. The trailer describes Pathaan as someone who will greet you with fireworks if you plan a party at his house, which could mean that we will see SRK in a never-seen-before avatar.
“Ek soldier ye nahi puchta, desh ne uske liye kya kiya. Puchta hai, vo desh ke liye kya kar sakta hai,” Pathaan says in the trailer. Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana are also seen in the trailer, but not much is known about the roles they will play. Not much is known about Padukone’s role either, but in the trailer, she offers to help Pathaan in his attempt to take down Outfit X. Abraham, meanwhile, is likely the leader of the terror group,
Pathaan has been released today, January 25 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu language. The Hindi version is reportedly releasing on over 5000 screens
As per Times Now, the OTT rights of the film have already been sold to Amazon Prime Video for Rs 100 crore, but the date for the film’s digital release is yet to be revealed. But other reports suggest that the digital premier will take place three months after the theatrical release, which means we could get to watch the film online in April.
Pathaan has surpassed Thugs of Hindostan and War to become the third-most advanced-booked Bollywood movie ever after Baahubali 2 and KGF 2. As of January 23, the film has sold over 4.19 lakh tickets, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
“As #Pathaan fights for India, you too can be a soldier for our film industry to fight piracy! Watch #Pathaan from 25th Jan worldwide ONLY in theatres & say NO to PIRACY! The power is in your hands,” SRK tweeted ahead of the release.
