Riyan has been turning the tables and silencing his critics with his consistent show with the bat for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Riyan Parag’s exceptional performances in the domestic cricket seasons and the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) have earned him a significant milestone in his cricketing career.
He has been selected for the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) High-Performance Monitoring Programme for the 2024-25 domestic cricket season by the All India Men’s Selection Committee yesterday.
Congratulatiing Riyan Parag, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) in a Facebook post wrote, “All India Men’s Selection Committee has selected Riyan Parag for the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) High Performance Monitoring Programme for the 2024-25 domestic cricket season! We are thrilled to see Riyan’s hard work and dedication being recognized. Riyan! Keep working hard and making us proud!”
Riyan has been turning the tables and silencing his critics with his consistent show with the bat for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024.
After suffering the wrath of trolls on social media and strong criticism by a few cricket pundits, Parag is finally making long strides to make a name for himself in the cash-rich league.
Playing on his home ground on May 16 against the Punjab Kings in Guwahati, Riyan scored 48 off 34 balls.
Last year, Riyan scored 20 runs off 12 balls in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings played on April 5, 2023.
In the second match on April 8, 2023 in Barsapara, Riyan scored 7 runs off 11 balls against Delhi Capitals.
Riyan has emerged as the cricket sensation not just of Assam but of Northeast and this is expected to put him under extreme pressure with people expecting him to perform better in his home ground.
A stable score and improvisation as per match situations have already made Parag and India contenders for the next T20 series where he is likely to make his international debut. As and when it happens, Parag will become the first cricketer hailing from the north-eastern part of the country to wear the senior team’s iconic blue jersey.
