James Sangma said that earlier too different sections of the society had expressed concerns over the implementation of the act and its impact thereafter. However, the minister maintained that casinos were meant to be set up only for tourists.

Sangma maintained that it will be his earnest endeavour to see that the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act 2021 will be repealed. Meanwhile, the minister has welcomed every stakeholder for their valuable feedback on the issue.

James Sangma further said that citizens are the keystones of any democracy and only strengthens the MDA government in it’s commitment for better governance so that the collective conscience is addressed.
