Tripura: Youth arrested on charges of raping a minor

The incident took place on January 24, and a complaint was filed at the Belonia Women's Police Station by the family of the victim.

The Tripura Police has arrested a 21-year old youth on charges of alleged rape of a 7-year old minor girl. The accused was tracked down in the Laxmipur Bari area adjacent to the Belonia police station based on confidential information.

As per sources, the incident took place on January 24, and a complaint was filed at the Belonia Women’s Police Station by the family of the victim.

Following the filing of the case, the accused identified as Akash was placed under police scrutiny and was successfully arrested.

It has been reported that the minor girl used to visit suspect’s house daily for playtime.

On the day of the incident, she went to the suspect’s house accompanied by her brother. During that time, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the minor in seclusion.
