Tripura Polls 2023: BJP to announce candidate list today

The Tripura BJP is all set to release its candidate list today for the upcoming assembly elections to be held on February 16.

Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee told Northeast Live that the BJP candidate list has been finalised and would be announced today from Delhi. He also informed that the BJP will be contesting the forthcoming general assembly elections in the state alone and will be filing nominations for all 60 constituencies in the state.

The state president claimed that talks are still ongoing with the alliance partner IPFT and the talks will TIPRA Motha regarding alliance or seat sharing has failed.

Bhattacharjee added that the BJP candidates’ list consists of representatives from various committees, including scheduled caste, tribe, OBC, minority, and women.

Meanwhile, on the joining of CPIM MLA Moboshar Ali and Trinamool former state president Subal Bhowmik to the party, he said the people of the state could not accept the Congress-CCPIM alliance and many more were in touch with the BJP.

CPIM MLA Moboshar Ali and Trinamool former state president Subal Bhowmik joined the saffron party on Friday in the presence of Tripura CM Manik Saha, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, and other senior party leaders.

The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the BJP held a meeting on Friday and finalised the tickets for the upcoming assembly elections in Tripura. The meeting was chaired in the presence of top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, BJP’s state incharge Mahesh Sharma, and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb.
