A lathicharge was also carried out to control the protesters who had gathered to demonstrate in the area
A flag march was conducted today at the violence-hit Gandatwisa in Dhalai district of Tripura, where the situation continues to be volatile after the death of a tribal boy.
Police had to resort to lathicharge to control the protestors who had gathered to demonstrate in the area.
An incident of arson took place last night at Gandatwisa, in which two shops were destroyed. Reports suggest that flammable material was used to start the fire.
However, authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire, although initial signs point to a possible short circuit.
Gandatwisa has been tense since the last few days following the death of youth, which has led to the subsequent violence in the area.
Some violence-hit people have been rendered homeless and are taking shelter in relief camps set up in schools.
A BJP delegation faced the wrath of the public yesterday when they visited Gandatwisa.
Meanwhile, Section 144 and prohibitory orders are in place even as curfew was earlier lifted along with the resumption of internet services after being suspended for a day.
