Tripura: Drugs worth Rs.10 cr seized, 3 arrested

In a major victory in the war against drugs, police in Tripura have seized contraband worth Rs 10 crore and arrested three drug peddlers on the spot on Monday.
The seizure of the drugs and arrest of the three individuals were made in the wee hours today at Churaibari in the borders of Assam and Tripura.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Abdul Alim, Suman Krishna Das and Prasanjit Das. All arrested accused are residents of Boxanagar area.
While speaking to media, SP North Tripura District Bhanupada Chakraborty said, “Based on secret information, the police from Churaibari police station intercepted huge quantity of heroin in a Tata Sumo vehicle with registration number MN-01-AK-3139 that arrived from Assam.”
“During search operation, at least 1.3 Kg of heroin was found hidden in a secret chamber inside the vehicle in 100 soap cases”, Chakraborty added.
In-order to make Tripura drugs free, the Tripura police have taken a special drive by setting up of several police checkpoints across the national highway right from Chauraibari, the entry point from Assam, to Sabroom the last point bordering with Bangladesh.
