Chief Minister Manik Saha announced an additional fund of Rs 4 lakhs to the family of Parameswar Reang, who was killed in Gandatwisa violence

Twenty-three days after communal violence erupted, damaging hundreds of houses and shops following the death of a tribal youth in Gandatwisa in the Dhalai district of Tripura, a high-level team led by Chief Minister Manik Saha visited the troubled area today to physically assess the situation and extend support to the affected residents.

The team included Chief Secretary JK Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, Home Secretary Pradip Chakraborty, and other senior officials.

The officials visited the house of deceased tribal student Parameshwar Reang and met with the families living in temporary shelters.

They also inspected the houses and shops that were looted and gutted on July 12 following the tragic death of Parameshwar.

Addressing the media after the visit, Chief Minister Manik Saha said that Reang’s death is an irreparable loss for the family; it can’t be compensated.

“Today, I visited the residence of the deceased and interacted with the bereaved family, expressing my condolences,” Chief Minister Saha said.

“The youth’s death is an irreparable loss for the family, it can’t be compensated. However, the state government has already announced financial assistance of Rs. 6 lakh for the deceased’s family. Today, I have announced an additional assistance of Rs. 4 lakh,” Chief Minister Saha added.

It may be mentioned here that on July 7, Parameswar Reang was seriously injured in an unexpected incident. He later died during treatment at GBP Hospital in Agartala.

The Chief Minister also announced a total relief package of Rs 3.05 crores for the affected families.

Additionally, the Chief Minister declared an all-round development package of Rs 238 crores for the Gandatwisa sub-division in Dhalai district.

The Chief Minister also announced the construction of a new Narayanpur Market with 30 market stalls and the overall development of the Gandatwisa Market Area.

The Chief Minister further announced that the 51-kilometer Gandatwisa-Ambassa road would also be developed.

Saha also announced plans to set up two more permanent security forces camps in vulnerable locations.

The Chief Minister made other developmental announcements, including setting up a new 50-bed integrated rehabilitation centre for drug addicts and developing the overall infrastructure of schools in Gandatwisa.

The relief and development packages aim to provide immediate assistance to the affected families and support the long-term growth and stability of the Gandatwisa area.
