A day after a 16-year-old girl was gangraped by two youths in North Tripura district on Friday, yet another minor girl was allegedly abducted and raped in South Tripura district on her way back from school on Saturday.
The incident came to light after a case was registered at Belonia Women Police Station, stating that a student of class 5 had gone to school on Saturday but did not return home.
The family heard their daughter was abducted in a vehicle and tried to trace her by enquiring with people at the school. However, after all enquiries failed, they sought help from the police and registered a complaint. Later in the evening the girl was left near her residence.
Police said that the boy who left the minor at her residence is a 22-year-old youth who lives in the same area.
A case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Earlier, yesterday Tripura police arrested two youths on the charge of allegedly gang raping the 16-year-old minor girl in North Tripura district.
