Tripura Royal Scion and TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has strongly condemned the recent violence in Tripura’s Dharmanagar that left one person dead.
Debbarma has spoken out against those inciting conflict, stating that those instigating violence in the state have ulterior motives or agendas.
He said that only poor people ultimately suffer from such unrest.
Stating that festivals like Durga Puja are celebrated by all, regardless of religious or ethnic background, Debbarma emphasized the need for communal harmony, urging citizens not to engage in conflicts in the name of religion.
He also warns against allowing religious identity to be exploited for division, stating that the individuals promoting violence lack genuine respect for their faiths.
“Those who want Violence have an agenda ! No leader no neta’s house will be burnt or any big leaders arrested it’s the poor who will always suffer . Puja is celebrated by everyone in our state irrespective of religion ethnic background or community. Recent violence in tripura has a clear design and I appeal to everyone – don’t fight in the name of religion . These people who are indulging in violence have no love for Allah or Ma Durga – they are using religion to artificially create a divide in our society,” Pradyot Debbarma posted on X.
One person died while two others were injured reportedly in police firing as several shops were looted and set ablaze in northern Tripura’s Kadamtala area on Sunday following violent clashes between members of two religious communities in the Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura district.
According to a senior police official, the unrest reportedly started over a dispute between members of a local club and the passengers and driver of a vehicle regarding Durga Puja subscription collection.
