In yet another success in its fight against drugs, Tripura Police today seized a huge consignment of dry marijuana worth Rs approximately 3 crores and nabbed two persons in this connection last night.
The consignment was recovered after the Ranirbazar Police Station under Jirania subdivision in the West Tripura district, acting on specific inputs launched an operation to bust the drug trafficking racket.
Police said that they had received information that a truck bearing registration number RJ18 GB 4272 carrying contraband items was coming from Agartala, which led them to set up a trap to intercept the vehicle.
During the course, police spotted the vehicle and stopped it. Upon frisking the truck, police recovered the illegal substances which were hidden under rubber sheets.

According to police, the marijuana consignment weighs 2055 kg.
The truck driver Ashwani and his assistant Bhanupratap – both residents of Uttar Pradesh were detained by police and are being interrogated to get more information regarding the gang engaged with the trafficking of drugs.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 against the duo.
This is one of the biggest success for the Tripura police in its fight against drugs.
