Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar attacked the BJP for trying to oust the CPI(M) with the help of “extremist outfit” and party like the Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Tripura (IPFT).

Addressing a public meet in the State’s Sipahijala district Sarkar claimed that the BJP has been trying to find ways to unseat the CPI(M) in Tripura since the last two to three years, but it has realised by now that it would not be successful in its bid. Sarkar made the remark while campaigning for Bishalghar assembly constituency candidate Bhanu Lal Saha.

The ruling CPI(M) and the BJP are engaged in a fierce poll battle in Tripura with one looking to retain power and the other aiming to make big inroads in the poll bound state.
