Heatwave in Tripura: After schools, now Anganwadi centres shut from April 19 to 23

Earlier, in view of the intense heatwave the state government announced the closure of over 5000 schools from April 18 to April 23
Amid the state being hit by unprecedented extreme temperature, the Tripura government has announced the closure of all Anganwadi Centres under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) from April 19 to 23.
The decision was taken amid the heat wave in Tripura and the effects it will have on the health of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.
In a notification issued by the Additional Secretary of government of Tripura it said, “Considering the scorching heat wave in Tripura and the probable bad effect on the health of the children, pregnant women & lactating mothers, it has been decided that all Anganwadi Centers under ICDS of Govt. of Tripura shall remain closed w.e.f. 19th April 2023 to 23rdApril 2023 including the holiday on 23.04.2023.”
However, the children (6 months to 6 years), pregnant women, and lactating mothers will receive supplementary nutrition and food items at their doorsteps, the notification added.
Earlier, in view of the heatwave the state government announced shut down over 5000 schools from April 18 to April 23
All schools, both government and private, up to Class 12 shall remain closed from April 18 to April 23.
