Animesh Debbarma expressed hope that interlocutor AK Misha will convey the Centre about the core demand
Tripura Leader of Opposition and TIPRA Motha leader Animesh Debbarma today said that post the first meeting with Centre’s interlocutor AK Mishra in New Delhi yesterday, things seem to be shaping up well and is progressing as far as the demand for Greater Tipraland and demand for maximum autonomy to the indigenous people of Tripura are concerned.
“We met the Advisor of Government of India for Northeast Affairs AK Mishra. We have placed our core demands before him, he is definitely going to convey the same to the Union Government,” Debbarma said speaking exclusively to Northeast Live after arriving in Agartala today.
Terming the talks as positive, Debbarma said, “Definitely there is development, otherwise why meeting after meeting will take place. Things will get good shape, things are progressing.”
Speaking to Northeast Live from New Delhi yesterday after the meeting, TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Debbarma said, “We have stuck to our demand for greater TIPRA land. We have put across our demand, he has heard us out patiently, and he has taken down our point. I believe the first meeting has been in a very congenial atmosphere, and we are hopeful that there will be a logical end and a constitutional solution for the survival of the indigenous people of Tripura.”
“We have not diluted our stand. We have stuck to the most important thing, that any solution that has to happen for the indigenous people has to be for the community and not for political leadership. Politicians will come and go, but if the community survives, then only our next generation will survive.”
Apart from the Tipra Motha team, the MHA officials led by Mishra also met a delegation of the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), which is an ally of the ruling BJP, and tribal community heads, or the Council of Tiprasa Hodas.
