Farmer killed, pregnant woman among 5 injured in lightning strikes in Tripura

In a tragic incident, a farmer lost his life, and five others including a pregnant woman were injured in lightning strikes on Thursday in various areas in Sepahijala district of Tripura.
The deceased farmer has been identified as 60-year-old Badal Dey who lost his life while working in his paddy field in the Golaghati area under the jurisdiction of Takarjala police station.
Five injured individuals, identified as Pabitra Das from Purba Lakshmibil, Kulsum Bibi from Arvindanagar, Chandan Deb Nath from Champamurra, Jebin Chowdhury from Nowapara, Sumitra Sarkar from Uttar Brajapur and Basanti Saha from Jangalia, sustained severe injuries in the lightning strikes.
Condition of Basanti Saha, the pregnant woman, is said to be critical.
Four of the injured other than Chandan have been urgently referred from Bishalgarh subdivision hospital to AGMC and GBP hospital in capital Agartala for further treatment.
Sub-Divisional Officer of Bishalgarh, Binoy Bhushan Das has rushed to the hospital. He provided the deceased’s family with financial assistance of Rs 10,000. The local administration is closely supporting the injured victims during their recovery.
