Big blow to drug cartels: Narcotics worth more than Rs 65 cr seized in 3 NE states in 3 days

In the latest seizure, the Assam Rifles and the Manipur Police seized narcotics worth Rs 10 crore in border town Moreh

Security forces have inflicted a massive blow to drug cartels operating in Manipur, Mizoram and Assam in the last 3 days. During intensive operations narcotics worth a whopping Rs 65 crore in just 3 days.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Assam Rifles in a joint operation with the Manipur Police seized a huge consignment of psychotropic substances at border town Moreh worth more than Rs 10 crore.

The items recovered include-
29.799 Kgs of WY tablets
0.386 Kgs of Heroin
5.266 kg Caffeine
2.471 kgs of Crystal Amphetamine
8.299 kg Gold Dust
7970 Alprazolam Tablets

2 persons- Rafique Kutti and his wife Zeenat Kutti have been arrested in connection with the seizure.

It was indeed a daring operation by the security forces as locals of Homeguard Veng where the operation was carried out demanded the release of the arrested persons.

They confronted the security personnel forcing RAF to fire tear gas shells for dispersing the irate mob.

On Thursday, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police, in a joint operation, seized 11.397 kg of methamphetamine tablets and 218 grams of heroin worth more than Rs 35 crore. 3 persons were arrested in connection with the case.

On Friday, the Assam Police recovered drugs worth Rs 24 crore from Dholai in Cachar district. One person was arrested in connection with the case.
