Sikkim’s Padam Gurung death case: Police seek people’s co-operation to crack case

Five days have passed by but the Sikkim Police is yet to make any breakthrough into the mysterious death case of Namchi Government College student Padam Gurung.
Namchi SP Manish Kumar Verma said that lot of statements have already been taken and lot of people already examined which has been corroborated and analysed.
Apart from the family members, other individuals too have been brought under the investigation, the SP informed.
The SP also requested the public to assist the police and share any information with the police pertaining to Padam’s death to help crack the case. Besides the SP also added that the Unnatural Death (UD) angle is being properly looked into.
SP Manish Kumar Verma also pointed out that any messages received through social media or any hearsay must be verified properly before forwarding it to others. He said this when newspersons cited post-mortem reports indicating that Padam was dragged before he lost his life.
Cyber experts have also been roped in for the purpose of investigating the case.
Padam Gurung, President of the Students Representative Council of Namchi Government College, was found dead on June 28 in the Kazitar area of Namchi, Sikkim. According to sources, Gurung was untraceable since June 27 night after he was reportedly washed away following heavy rainfall. His body was recovered from a drain the next morning.
However, it has been alleged that Padam Gurung was murdered.
