Sikkim: SKM gets election ready, CM Tamang tells MLAs to dedicate max time for party

CM Tamang chaired a crucial meet of party MLAs wherein a series of constituency-wise public meetings to highlight SKM’s achievements was approved.
Setting its eyes on the upcoming Sikkim assembly elections, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is now on a mission to retain power and consolidate its position further.
With political dynamics in the Himalayan state getting a new shape after the merger of the Bhaichung Bhutia led HSP into the SDF, the CAP being registered as a political party, the SKM is leaving no stone unturned that the people’s mandate come in their favour.
Taking things into his own hands, SKM supremo and Chief Minister PS Tamang himself is engaged in discussions with his party functionaries including his cabinet ministers and the party MLAs.
Addressing party MLAs and other leaders at a meeting in Mintokgang, PS Tamang urged the members to dedicate maximum time to party activities. CM Tamang also encouraged legislators to engage in continued discussions and meetings with various wings of the party.
Tamang also conveyed that the SKM party workers must not pay any heed to rumors allegedly spread by the Opposition and instead believe in strong teamwork for success in the election.
Bikash Basnet, Press Secretary to CM Tamang spoke to Northeast Live and shared as to how the SKM is gearing up in the runup to the poll battle.
He said, “In the Legislators’ meeting preparedness on the upcoming polls was primarily discussed. The SKM from now on is going into full election mode. In the meeting, under the leadership CM Tamang approval was given for conduct of constituency level body meetings.
All the MLAs, MPs and every other party workers have been urged to move to the rural areas and campaign about the government’s welfare programs and achievements made so far. They have been told to seek votes on the basis of what has been done by the government in the last 4 and half years. The CM has appealed the MLAs to spend maximum time in their respective constituencies and engage in deliberations with people at the constituency level party offices.”
“We are focussing on our schemes. The Chief Minister is in talks at various levels regarding a few major decisions to be announced soon. These include regularisation policies as well as others, he will make announcements during public meetings,” Basnet added.
