Has the Panchayati Raj system in Sikkim collapsed? Ex-SDF leader Ganesh Rai alleged that in the current situation only BDO Raaj prevails.
The emergence of a new political party is on the cards in Sikkim. This was informed by former SDF vice president Ganesh Rai. In an exlcusive conversation with Northeast Live, Rai said that the name and agendas of the new party will be announced on November 13.
Speaking about his idea to float a new party, Ganesh Rai said that the Himalayan state was moving towards disaster. This is the reason why like minded people thinking about the welfare of the state are coming together in one platform Ganesh Rai stated.
Meanwhile, Ganesh Rai lashed out at the state government blaming it for the collapse of the Panchayati Raj system in the state. Rai made a sensational allegation and said that government officials who worked for the SKM in the 2019 elections, are being picked up and made BDOs. Rai termed the prevailing situation of governance at the grass-root level as “BDO Raaj.”
Besides, Rai cried foul accusing the SKM of threatening workers of other parties and stopping people from canvassing for the Panchayat Elections.
The former SDF leader also maintained that party-less election is not a reality and is only a mere whitewash as far as the Panchayat Elections in Sikkim is concerned.
