Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang today handed over appointment letters to a total of 437 probationary government employees including– teachers, language instructors and laboratory assistants after their jobs were regularised at a special programme held in Gangtok.
Additionally, 66 families who had earlier donated lands to build government schools received appointment letters for one eligible family member from each family.
According to current government legislation, job regularization usually happens after eight years of continuous service, however, the Chief Minister today announced a five-year relaxation in this requirement.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang said that the job regularisation process for these 66 teachers would be expedited within three years.
Chief Minister Tamang stated that the government is speeding up the process for job regularization, cutting the duration of the wait for these exceptional people from eight to three years, to honour the significant role that land donors have played in establishing educational institutions. “This matter will be passed in the upcoming Cabinet meeting” he added.
Chief Minister Tamang also highlighted the significance of completing the mutation of land as a priority criterion and expressed his gratitude to the land donors.
