Sikkim By-Polls: Election Battle for Soreng Chakung and Namchi-Shinghithang Heats Up, all Party Candidates File Nominations

Citizen Action Party (CAP) candidate Mahesh Rai has submitted his nomination papers for the Namchi Singithang seat.

The race for the Soreng Chakung and Namchi-Shinghithang constituencies in Sikkim has begun as all candidates have completed their nomination filings today.

Citizen Action Party (CAP) candidate Mahesh Rai has submitted his nomination papers for the Namchi Singithang seat at the District Administrative Centre in Namchi today.

Pobin Hang Subba filed his nomination for the Soreng Chakung seat at the District Administrative Centre in Soreng.

Both candidates contested in the assembly elections from the same seats respectively but did not win.

On Thursday, Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) candidates Daniel Rai and Prem Bahadur Bhandari filed their nominations for Namchi Singithang and Soreng Chakung.

They both will contest elections for the first time.

Earlier on Monday, SKM candidate Aditya Golay, son of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, submitted his nomination for Soreng Chakung, while Satish Chandra Rai filed for Namchi Singithang.

Today marked the last day for nomination filings.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 28, with the last date for withdrawal set for October 30.

These seats are expected to witness a fierce contest among these prominent political figures.

The by-elections for these two assembly seats will be held on November 13 and the counting of votes will take place on November 23.
