Row over “Foreigner” tag on Sikkimese-Nepali: Sikkim BJP delegation to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah today

The BJP delegation includes, BJP Legislature Party leader N.K Subba, Senior MLA D.T Lepcha, Sikkim BJP in-charge Dr Dilip Jaiswal and others.

A 7-member high-level team of the Sikkim BJP, led by the newly appointed president D .R. Thapa, will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi today.

As per inputs, during the meeting with Amit Shah, the Sikkim BJP delegation will be raising the issue of the SC observation on the Sikkimese Nepali community and the prevailing situation thereafter in the Himalayan state.

The BJP delegation includes, BJP Legislature Party leader N.K Subba, Senior MLA D.T Lepcha, Sikkim BJP in-charge Dr Dilip Jaiswal and others.

Meanwhile, Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang in a significant statement yesterday had informed, “the legislative assembly will hold a session on 9th February and pass a proposal which will also be sent to the central government.”

Amid the Sikkimese-Nepali row, the Government of Sikkim on February 2 filed a review petition before the Supreme Court to address the grievances and sentiments of the people of Sikkim concerning certain observations in the judgement pronounced on January 13, 2023 by the Apex Court.
